One knows it’s Christmas when it’s time to watch Christmas movies with their family and friends. How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Home Alone, Elf, and Santa Clause are a must see when they show up on TV.

“ I really liked Jim Carrey playing the Grinch in the movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas. My favorite part was when the Grinch gave the presents he stole back to the Whos,” sophomore Blake Becker said.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas reached major success in America when it was released in 2000, racking up 10 awards including a Oscar.

Senior Antwoine Patton enjoys watching Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) in the 1990 film Home Alone.

I liked how Kevin attacked the robbers and never got in trouble for it. The best part of the movie is when Kevin screams after putting on aftershave. I laugh every time,” Patton said.

Home Alone took the Kids Choice Award for favorite movie and got Culkin’s acting career off to a fast start.

The 1992 movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York  is freshman TJ Houston’s favorite Christmas movie.

“My favorite part in the movie is when the thief gets electrocuted and you can see his skeleton,”  Houston said.

For comical scenes like that one, Home Alone 2 won the People’s Choice Award for favorite comedic movie.

The humor in the Elf starring Will Ferrell made it a classic in senior Drew Scheer’s eyes.

“The best parts are when Will Farrell eats the gum off of the hand rail, and when he sings in the girls bathroom,”  Scheer said.

Elf was nominated for nine awards and won two.

The Santa Clause debuted in 1994 and starred Tim Allen.

“It’s a good, wholesome Christmas movie that I have been watching since I was younger. My favorite part in the movie is when Santa gets killed at the beginning because it showed comedy in a unexpected way,” junior Ryan Skillington said.
