While running as a candidate in the New Melle Queen Pageant, junior Meghan Swoboda collected over 60 stuffed animals to be delivered to children in Honduras by a local dentist.

“Part of the pageant involves having community involvement,” Swoboda said. “ My sponsor told me about the dentist and I thought that it sounded like a good idea, so I went around school asking people to donate.”

Dentist Paul Moore performs free dental procedures on children in Honduras, and the stuffed animals collected will be distributed amongst his patients.

“It made me feel really good that I received 60 animals to donate because that was way more than I was expecting,” Swoboda said. “I am happy that I can make other kids happy by doing this.”
