Emily Weiman
In February of 2018, senior Emily Weiman had the first of three intensive surgeries. During Weiman’s freshman year, she was officially diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, an inflammatory disease of the colon.
“I’ve had it my whole life,” Weiman said. “I would get bellyaches every morning since second grade and I couldn’t eat breakfast.”
She had her first surgery on February 23, 2018. Because of Ulcerative Colitis, Weiman has missed more than a semester of school. When asked about how the surgeries affected her social life, Weiman said the worst of it was losing her Snapchat streaks.
“My social life wasn’t affected much because I have really good friends who supported me,” Weiman said.
