Boys Swim & Dive Recap

Starting off with a big 154-106 win on Aug. 28 against Pattonville, boys swim set the tone early and showed how they would once again be hard to take down.

“The first meet was huge for us, and I felt we all had to drive to win,” sophomore Ty Galati said, “I was really proud of all our guys and you could tell we wanted it more than Pattonville did.”

Despite the close 89-96 loss to Chaminade College Preparatory, the team bounced back and went on to win six of their last seven meets. The team also won GACs, and every single swimmer made it to finals. That accomplishment itself put them in a good position for the postseason.

“Winning the GAC was huge, but I feel like everyone on the team kind of expected it,” sophomore Eli Holt said,” The confidence was a big factor to why the season was so successful.”

After finishing with a 7-2 record, 12 of 19 members earned the opportunity to swim at state. Senior josh Smith was the only one to place, placing third in one meter diving. “Everyone was so positive,” Galati said, “Even our seniors were really happy, which kind of surprised me because for most of them, it was their last time competing.”
