Girls Track to compete at Howell Central
Girls varsity track will be competing against Festus, March 24, at 3 p.m. About 50 girls will be competing.
The girls practice handoffs and sprints after school and on Saturdays.
Coaches Dane Williamson (boys), Ryan Taylor (girls), and the assistant coaches trained the runners on distance runs, long jumps, sprints, high jumps, hurdles, and javelins.
The girls will have individual and team races, competing Friday and Saturday.
“Winning is nice, but we want to see people improve and do their best. If we don’t place top three it is going to be a disappointment, but I look at it more as individuals succeeding. Although its a team sport, it’s also an individual sport”, Williamson said.
The coaches have been encouraging their teams.
“We encourage them to do their best and improve. We make them stay positive,” Williamson said.
