New Additions to the Cafeteria

Over the summer, the Francis Howell School District administrators decided to switch from Coca-Cola products to Pepsi products. The new vending machines can be found in the commons by the stairwell, or in the G hallway.

“The new machines look much cleaner and more high tech than what the old ones did.” Junior Samantha Norris said.

The vending machines allow debit/credit cards to be used instead of cash. The argument between no regular soda being put into the machines, versus the Mtn Dew Kickstarts is a whirlwind on both sides.

“I’m not a fan of regular soda, so I was glad when I found out they put the Kickstarts in there. They make me have more energy and I feel more awake.” Sophomore Sydney Truax said.

PEPSICO.com states that Pepsi has 250 calories and has 63 mg of caffeine, the Mtn Dew Kickstart has 60 calories and 68 mg of caffeine.

“I don’t believe that regular soda doesn’t fit into our nutritional guidelines, Kickstarts are a low calorie juice, not soda,” Principle Jessica DiPaolo said. “The name is deceiving, it sounds like something that it’s not.”
