STL Christmas Hotspots
“I love Christmas time in St. Louis,” senior Layla Wehbe said. “There’s so many places to go to see decorations, but my favorite is the Botanical Gardens light display.”
Missouri Botanical Gardens hosts a light display with over a million lights during the winter months. Open every night from Nov. 17- Jan. 1, the holiday decor brings in visitors. On Sundays through Thursdays, visitors can get in for $12 if they are above 10 years of age, and anyone from ages 3-9 pay $6. Fridays and Saturdays adults cost $18 and kids are $10.
Another place in the city to go is the St. Louis Zoo.
“The zoo is a great place to go to see Christmas decorations,” senior Brady Ehrlich said. “I’ve been with my friends the past two years to go look at the decorations and get hot chocolate.”
The St. Louis Zoo Wild Lights display is open on select nights from Nov. 23- Dec. 30. On weeknights the price of entry is $9 and on weekend nights the price is $11. Parking cost $10 per vehicle.
The City of St. Louis has other holiday festivities to visit as well. Anheuser Busch Brewery holds its annual Brewery Lights display. This event starts with a lighting ceremony Nov. 15 at 5:30 pm. The light displays will be open Thursdays-Sundays until 10 p.m. up to Dec. 30 costing $10 for ages 21+ and ages 3-20 cost $4.
Six Flags St. Louis is bringing back its Christmas event Holiday in the Park, during select nights from Nov. 23- Jan. 1. This event allows visitors to ride thrilling roller coasters, take pictures with Santa, and explore the theme park to look at the holiday spirit spread throughout. Next to Six Flags, visitors can drive through Santa’s Magic Kingdom for $23 per car.
“St. Louis is always so special during the holidays,” Wehbe said. “I’d love to try more attractions this upcoming Christmas season.”
Many more Christmas festivities occur around STL, such as the Alton Christmas Wonderland, St. Peters Tree Lighting, and Holiday in Blue.
