Giving Back
Christmas is known as the season of giving. There is one easy way of doing this, and, that is by being kind to one another. Kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate. It can just be simple things and you will feel happy that you did it after.
There are many different small things you can do at school to be kind. You can hold the door open for others when walking into the building or class. You can ask someone sitting by themselves to come with sit you. Instead of sharing mean thoughts, keep it to yourself. If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say it at all. Instead of cutting off someone, let them merge into the lane on the way to school. Smile because it is contagious. When around positive people, you are normally in a positive mood as well. You can listen also to someone when they are having a bad day. This lets them know that you care about them. You can do things throughout the week and weekend.
During the weekend or Christmas break, get a group of friends together and help around the community. Working the food pantry, donating food, giving warm clothes like shoes and boots are all things that you can do. Even if you are very busy, you can take 15 minutes and shovel your neighbor’s driveway every once in a while. When wanting to give back, it’s not all about doing big things. The small things count as well and the sometimes meaning.
When being kind to people, most likely you will feel happy. Some may feel this because it makes them proud of themselves, especially when doing something kind to someone who is down because having the same relief they did and knowing that you did something good. Be kind to one another this Christmas season and live in the present.
