Fishing Club
Fishing Club is back after a recent revamp which will allow members to be involved more rigorously and compete in a way more similar to a sport.
“The most difficult part of getting it started was getting a bunch of people into it and getting our word out,” freshman Grant Daab said.
The group plans to not only meet to talk about fishing, but to go fishing together and compete in fishing competitions.
“I love fishing, so I’m excited to go and experience what an actual tournament is like. For big tournaments like the one in the Lake of the Ozarks, we will go in the day before for a practice run. We will hire a guide and have them show us the best places to fish,” senior Noah Schultz said.
“We kind of practice. Most of us will just go out and fish in New Melle, but really you just kind of gather some friends and go whenever. It is definitely very relaxed,” senior Gabe Meyer said.
Because this is group is technically a club, anyone can join. All one has to do is show up at the meetings every Wednesday after school in Coach Kevin Stroh’s room (B107) and love fishing.
“I’m just excited for going to tournaments, hanging out with all of these people, and fishing,” Daab said.
