Winning Hall of Fame
The Howelltonian yearbook qualified for the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) Yearbook All-American Hall of Fame with the most recent All-American rating of the 2016-2017 yearbook.
In order to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, publications must receive All-American ratings from NSPA for 10 out of 11 years.
“We worked so hard for this win, and it’s fulfilling to know that we accomplished it,” senior Faith Jackson said. Jackson has been on staff for three years.
Not only is Howelltonian the first high school in the Francis Howell School District to be inducted for yearbook, but no Missouri school has been inducted for yearbook since 2006. Howell North’s newspaper is in the hall of fame.
“It’s so exciting that we got inducted,” senior photo editor Daniel Willbrand said. “It feels so good to be awarded for something that the staff has put so much work into.” Willbrand has been on staff for two years.
The 2017-18 staff celebrated the recognition with cake.
“Celebrating is always an essential for our staff when we get awards,” Willbrand said.
It’s become a tradition for the publications staff to celebrate each award together with a small party.
“The yearbook staff has become a close knit group of people, we’re like a big family,” junior Hannah Chisnell said. “We worked so hard to get to where we are, and it’s good to be able to celebrate with the people who appreciate the hard work that goes into this.”
