Ke$ha’s Return
Seven years ago, we were introduced to a rising popstar named Kesha, or more commonly known by her signature money-sign as “Ke$ha.” You may recognize her party anthem “Tik Tok” or her boy-obsessive love song “Your Love is My Drug.” Kesha’s songs were both catchy and fun. From 2010 to 2012 she released a total of three pop hit albums but suddenly started to fade away.
Four years later we are finally seeing Kesha back in the media, dropping her new album Rainbow and we are being reintroduced to a brand new side of Kesha.
In nature, when the clouds whisk up a hard heavy storm, we are usually left with a beautiful rainbow. And a storm is exactly what Kesha went through. This storm was the infamous legal court battle between her and her producer Dr. Luke. Kesha claimed that he sexually assaulted her and forced her to take drugs throughout the time they had spent producing music together. Kesha’s strength and perseverance certainly paid off through her hard, three-year battle. When she was free from Dr.Luke she was able to see the “rainbow” at the end of her very “personal” storm.
Kesha’s new album gives us songs like “Praying” which introduces us to a more vulnerable Kesha. And Rainbow gives us more personal insight into what she went through, with lyrics like “Darling, our scars make us who we are, are, So when the winds are howling strong and you think you can’t go on, hold tight, sweetheart, You’ll find a rainbow” In the end, we can’t help but feel proud of Kesha and content with the fact that she finally found her “Rainbow”.
