Football takes on Fort Zummwalt East tomorrow
Football prepares to kick off the second home game
The second home football game of the year is set to take place tomorrow Sept. 2 at seven against Fort Zumwalt East. After a 35-21 victory over Mehlville and a 22-33 loss to Eureka, Viking football dropped down to the tenth slot in USA Today’s High School sports rankings.
“We have been working really hard this season with extra workouts before and after practice on Mondays and Wednesdays,” senior Reeder Kuhn said.
The team’s new coach, Corey Snyder, has 5 years of coaching experience at Westminster Christian Academy.
“I think our football team can still turn around the season,” senior Kendall Kellerman said. “Win or lose, friday night games are still really fun as a fan.”
The game will have a tailgating events sponsored by Student Council for current members. The club will be providing pizza and games for anyone that shows up and participates.
Next Thursday Sept. 8, DECA will sponsoring a similar tailgate before the home volleyball and soccer matches with small cups of ice cream as their tailgate treat.
“We came up with the idea of a tailgate to try and get the word out about DECA,” senior President Avery Roberts said. “We wanted potential members to socialize and bond outside of a school environment and hopefully want to become a part of our DECA family.”
Both of these tailgates will take place in the parking lot immediately adjacent to the football field. Direct any additional questions to each club’s advisors Larry Anders and Katie Bange.
