Varsity Girls Swimmers Achieve a State Qualifying Time
“It’s crazy how just a tenth of a second makes such a big difference,” sophomore Madison Nguyen said.
Saturday Dec. 12, Varsity girls swimmers, senior Kylie Flagel, junior Alyssa Juris, and sophomores Emma Brabham and Nguyen achieved another state qualifying time in the 200 medley relay. Out touching their opponents at the finish with a 1:58.98, just under the state qualifying time of 1:58.99. They finished third overall in the event.
“I am glad we completed one of the three relays, we hope to qualify for in state,” Brabham said. “This is just the beginning, we have a lot of work that’s needed to be done.”
Nguyen, Brabham, and Juris were apart of the 200 freestyle relay that finished first at the Missouri state championship last year.
“This is my first year qualifying with the girls. I have big shoes to fill, but I’m more than excited to see our end results,” Flagel said.
