On April 1, the Artemis ll space shuttle launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida to explore the far side of the moon, which no human being has ever seen. The astronaut crew on this mission consisted of Victor Glover, Jeremy Hansen, Reid Wiseman and the first woman to go to the moon, Christina Koch. Their mission lasted 10 days as astronauts photographed Earth and the moon and studied the way human beings are impacted in deep space. Artemis ll brings new observations, the first woman on the moon and humans’ first glimpse of the far side of the moon. The mission astronauts took will inspire future generations and science as astronauts continue to collect data.
This mission has shown what humanity can be. For example, Henson requested to name a bright spot on the far side of the moon after Wiseman’s late wife, Carroll, who passed from cancer in 2020. This mission has shown how small we really are on Earth and how much peace is possible, especially during this time. Astronauts display all of who humanity can be and how we all have one common goal in life: to prosper and achieve. Many call this the most humane and sincere mission recorded; it brings all different groups together and creates unity and peace. This mission displays the best of humanity.
