The publications staff will be making their annual fall JEA trip, Nov. 10, to Orlando, FL. There will be nine staff members joining advisor Michele Dunaway for five days.
“I’ve been looking forward to it for a while,” print editor Kristen Landon said. “I’ve never been on a JEA trip before.”
Each of the nine members (Lexi Farran, Maddie Villeneuve, Kristen Landon, Alison Bacon, Brooke Watkins, Shelby Odle, Alyssa Juris, Nathan Schaefer, and Kane Katubig) compete in a category of their choice for recognition.
“I will be competing in review writing,” co-editor in chief Maddie Villeneuve said. “I want to win the highest award for my last write-off.”
A write-off consists of many competitors in a large ballroom, with a blind prompt to analyze and write a story from. Judges review them and students receive awards about five to ten days after the competition.
“I am prepared to immerse myself in the atmosphere of JEA and learn as much as possible,” photo editor Alison Bacon said.
