For those of you who have jobs while still attending seven-hour-long school days, it can be difficult to stay sane. Here are a few ways to help you stay on top of everything:
- Do as much homework as you can before you go to work for the night.
- If possible, try to ask for some shifts on the weekends so you’re not always taking time away from homework.
- If you have a really big test coming up, try to take off for the night before so you have time to study.
- It’s always easier if your work is close to your school and home – it takes less travel time.
- Try to pick a workplace that either closes early or allows high schoolers to get off at a certain time so you’re not out too late.
- If your workplace offers breaks, do homework or study if you can.
- Don’t let your manager overwork you. School should always come before work – if your boss doesn’t agree with this then find a new job.
- Don’t slack in class! Try to get as much work as possible done while actually in school.
- The most important rule: Do not procrastinate! Work more on upcoming projects on the nights that you don’t work, even if the due date may be a little ways away.
- Don’t forget to have fun when you’re not working or doing school stuff – you need to have some time for things you want to do to help relieve some stress.
