As the curtain drew back and the stage lights turned bright, freshman Dylan
Enyart started his lead role, George Gibbs, in the fall play, Our Town. Not all of the work is being done onstage by Enyart, crews such as makeup and costume make the people come to life.
“When making someone’s costume, it’s like Halloween all over again. You get to
completely transform someone,” costume crew head Malcohm Hudson said.
For Enyart, the process is mental and physical.
“You have to be able to know how to become someone else. Such as how they feel, think and how they would react to certain situations, how often they would make eye contact. It’s kinda like putting yourself into someone’s shoes,” Enyart said.
Our Town has a lot of older characters rather than younger kids, so the makeup
crew has to make teenagers into elders.
“When an actor comes up to you and you know you have to transform them into three times their age. It’s difficult because you have to learn how their face needs to be contoured into the right way,” makeup crew head Haley Murphy said.
Our Town premieres Thursday, Nov.12 and, runs through Nov.14.
