After a summer backpacking trip Sophomore Laurie Lee brought her hobby of exploring into the reach of students this year with ‘Adventure Club.’
“After my summer trip, my friend Sammie Markus and I, decided we wanted to go on more similar trips.” Lee said.
The club consist of students sharing the love for outdoors, through hiking, water sports, and other activities.
“We wanted to meet like-minded people that enjoy outdoors and want to have relaxed atmosphere.” sophomore Sammie Markus said. “Here people can meet and go on adventures that they would not necessarily be able to organize.”
Their first adventure took off Sep. 25 at the Lewis and Clark Trail, while hiking along the Mississippi.
“Our first adventure was one for the books. We had a great time and everyone seemed to enjoy it.” sophomore Emma Brabham said.
The next club date is Oct. 14, where they will be paddling boating and going to the zoo.
Anyone can join Adventure club. This club is very casual and just for fun, nothing is required. Their goal is two adventures per month. If you are interested in joining you can come to a meeting, or request to be added in the GroupMe where information is sent about meetings and adventures. They meet in the sponsor’s room, Mr. Wayne’s, on Wednesday mornings. The club has a twitter account you can follow for upcoming adventures, @FHHSadventure.
