Most of the time the things Newspaper/Yearbook do go unnoticed by the general population of the school. Since they’re the ones doing the reporting, they don’t usually report on themselves. This week though, Nov. 6-9, is the Journalism Education Association (JEA) Convention. It’s a semi-annual national convention about all things media-newspaper, online, broadcast, yearbook, and magazine. There are keynote speakers, learning sessions, workshops, and discussions. They also have vendors, contest for the best yearbooks, write-offs, awards, and critiques. Over 4,000 students from all over the country attend every year; eight of them being staffers at Howell. Winning awards is a big deal, and Howell is known to win many. They have won the All-American award seven times in eight years for their yearbook.
