Classrooms Celebrate Holiday Season

With the arrival of the holiday season and the past years outbursts of ugly Christmas sweaters, the number of students with appropriate attire was expected to be unbeatable. However, the lack of spirit may result in a colorless Christmas.“I was invited to an ugly Christmas sweater party, but I didn’t have anything to wear it it. The least I could have done was go to Walmart and find a sweater, but none were remotely appealing,” sophomore Brooke Loudon said. “I thought, why bother, and wore regular clothes. It doesn’t make a difference to whether one is in the spirit or not.”

Many considered the ugly Christmas sweater idea obnoxious.

“If I was going to partake in ugly sweater day, I’d make sure it looked cute. But I fail to find any that look nice,” junior Alexis Muckerman said. “I know many people who do not care to dress up for the holidays, and if not wearing a Christmas sweater means lacking spirit, then this year, Christmas may not be as jolly as past years.”

For some, it was having no spirit. For others, it was not celebrating entirely.

“My family does not celebrate Christmas, so why go around wearing something I have no connection with,” sophomore Harinya Potluri said. “Although my family has our own version of the holiday, I wish more people could appreciate celebrating it and would get in the jolly, giving mood. If that means wearing over the top attire, so be it.”
