Beads for Life is an organization designed to empower women by providing opportunities to lift them out of their circumstances of extreme poverty. The women of Uganda provide for their family through making jewelry from recycled paper. The Empowering Young Women’s Group at Francis Howell is partnering with Bead for Life to sell jewelry for the benefit of the poverty-stricken women in Uganda. It is handmade jewelry, made by the Ugandan women themselves that enables them with a sense of pride and with savings for the future.On December 5th during all lunches and after school until 3:30pm the Empowering Young Women’s Group will be selling jewelry made by the Ugandan women themselves. All jewelry ranges from $5 to $20 and all make excellent Christmas gifts. When purchasing jewelry, a small card comes with it that describes the organization and the work that they do.
