As varsity football took on Blue Springs high school in the state championships Saturday, Nov. 24, the chant never went unanswered. A sold out student section, of more than 700 viking fans, united to cheer on their home team. This marked as the first state championship qualifier in Viking football history. With a final score of 42-3, the team did not walk away with a state championship ring.

However, the Howell spirit and comittment remained in the Dome. 2011 marked football’s first final four qualification, and 2012 marked football’s first state playoff. What will the future bring? Only time will tell.
