Play it again. That was all I did when I listened to Matchbox 20’s newest album, North, released Sept. 4, 2012. Contrast, emotion, and feeling gave the album variety and spice. It was everything I love about Matchbox 20, and then some. I couldn’t stop listening.
For one, no two songs sounded the same. Upbeat tracks such as “I Don’t Wanna be Loved” and “Our Song” were bass driven wonders, and ideal opposite acoustic ballads such as “Straight For Life.”
The sounds were raw, and the lyrics were honest. The album was mainstream, but still out of box. Matchbox 20 deserves a standing ovation for their newest musical gem.
