A Francis Howell alumnus died Tuesday night from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in St. Charles.

John Gomez, 20, of St. Charles, was killed after crashing at a high rate of speed at Dingledine Road and Towers Road, a Missouri Highway Patrol report said. There were no other vehicles involved.

A St. Charles County Sheriff deputy clocked Gomez going over 100 miles per hour. Gomez crashed while the deputy turned to pursue him, a police spokesman told the Post-Dispatch.

Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gomez was enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was a 2009 graduate of Howell.
