Howell held its annual blood drive in the A-gym Mar. 3. The drive was carried out by the Red Cross. Students had to meet certain requirements to donate blood.
“You have to be 16, you have to be a certain weight, a certain height. It gets crazy,” nurse Rose Holmes said.
Students decided to give blood because they felt that it was for a good cause.
“I decided to give blood because you give people life, it’s the ultimate gift,” junior Luke Bourner said.
“I just thought it was for a good cause,” junior Brett Groene said.
Attendance for the blood drive was feared to be low; not many students signed up beforehand. Teachers were even emailed asking if they could go and donate blood.
“Nobody really knew about it,” senior Alyssa McCullogh said. “I learned about it the day before. It didn’t seem very well organized this year.”
