Ally Week encourages bullying to stop

After several suicides of homosexual students, due to bullying, young adults are coming together to show their support. Ally week shows students that “it gets better.”

“Allies” play a vital role in making schools safer for all students, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression. Ally Week has a goal of making anti-LGBT bullying, harassment and name-calling unacceptable in America’s schools.

In all lunch hours (excluding 5B) students may sign a pledge that they will promote school safety and support all students. These pledges will be returned to the Gay-Straight Alliance. Teachers may also acquire “Safe Zone” signs for their classrooms from Guidance Counselor, Darci Hillyer.

There will be no lunches on Thursday due to the half day. Students should show their support as soon as possible.
