Improvement and changes have always been a part of Howell history. Since the 2024-2025 school year the fall sports and activities have improved and grown to represent the H. Although many things have changed, the integrity, respect and drive have never changed at Howell.
The Viking sports programs are what represent the name of Francis Howell. This year, varsity football has improved in many areas. From flexibility to sportsmanship, the Vikings have made great strides as the season has just begun.“
Our players have done a great job of stepping into new roles on the field, we are more comfortable with the schemes that we are running this year,” head football coach Aaron Callaway said.
The players have adapted to the coaching style and have grown more confident on the field. The Viking football team will continue to represent the Howell name.
Last year the girls tennis team had around 100 girls sign up and 83 playing. This year around 100 girls signed up for tennis, and there are 87 girls on the team this season. The girls tennis team has improved since last year, from swings to involvement in the community.
“[Tennis] is just a fun sport and I love having a bunch of friends in a big community,” senior Lydia Elder said.
Being involved in sports is a great way to be a part of the Viking community.
While sports represent Howell, the band brings the community together, such as at football games. These musicians have continued to be hard-working and collaborative.
“There’s a lot less people in band this year, which means that there are going to be a lot more important parts,” junior Cheyenne Jones said.
However, this has not stopped the Viking band from performing outstanding shows. The Vikings continue to be hard-working and determined to keep the good name of Howell.
