Seniors Danielle Moore and Leo Humbert will be recognized by the prestigious St. Charles County Amateur Sports Hall of Fame as the Outstanding Senior Female and Male Athletes for Large School.
“I was really excited because I had seen the athletes last year get it, and I thought this [was] a really cool [nomination] to be awarded,” Moore said.
The St. Charles County Amateur Sports Hall of Fame has been commending athletic talent in the area since 1983. Their High School Program sorts schools by student enrollment size and then inducts two athletes in three categories.
“Erwin called [Humbert and I to his office] and he told us about [the award],” Moore said. “I’m very grateful, especially because Howell has such great programs, and I’ve just really enjoyed the time I’ve spent doing [them].”
Moore and Humbert will be formally inducted in a ceremony on April 12 at the St. Charles American Legion Hall.
“It was a big surprise for me. I was super happy because I know that all my hard work throughout the years in high school paid off,” Humbert said. “I know that there are a lot of athletes at our school that compete at a very high level, so being picked among all of them was a big honor.”
