Varsity girls volleyball ended their 11-game win streak after losing to Eureka on the second day of the Gateway Match-Up at Oakville High School on Sept. 23. This makes their record 18-7-1 as of Sept. 26.
“We had a very strong outing and came together as a team, we came in with a winning mentality and pulled off some good wins and even though we didn’t win them all,” junior Avery Helms said.
On the first day of the tournament, the team only dropped one set to Nerinx Hall, winning the other five of the day. This included winning their game against Incarnate Word Academy, who they had previously lost to.
“Coming off of them beating us before, they figured that it was going to be easy and we all played through each other and it felt so good to beat a really good team,” senior Ava Tutschulte said.
The Vikings ended up losing the tournament after going up against Eureka and Jackson back to back.
“We had tough losses but still went on a good winning streak and we still fought in every single game we played,” junior Danielle Moore said.
Girls volleyball has their last game of the regular season on Friday, Oct. 13.
