Friday, Aug. 18, varsity football hosted its annual jamboree against Christian Brothers College, Ladue, and McCluer North. The jamboree marks the beginning of the varsity football season returning to Class 6.
The entrance fee was $1, or a canned food item, collected by the girls varsity basketball program, to benefit the Oasis food pantry. Oasis provides fresh food, frozen food, and hygiene products to those in need. They maintain both their free food pantry and a thrift store for household necessities. This year Howell collected nearly $2000 of food and donations.
The jamboree included a round-robin pool in which each team receives four defensive and four offensive plays against each other team. Howell began the jamboree against Ladue, tying 6-6 after the eight plays. Next, they took on 2023 class 6 champions CBC, beating them 12-0. They ended the night playing McCluer North, reigning 6-0.
