Senior Reed Wilson qualifies for state May 7.
The Boys Tennis program competed in districts on May 7. Out of those playing, senior Reed Wilson placed second in singles qualifying him for state.
“It was crazy because I went into the tournament knowing that if I won 3 matches in a row, I would be going to state,” Wilson said. “But it truly hit me when I was in my last couple points to win my 3rd match that I was going to go to state, so I went all in getting those last couple points and it felt amazing.”
Wilson will compete in state May 20. State will be held at the Coopers Tennis Complex in Springfield Missouri.
After his wins at districts, Wilson celebrated, but he has since refocused.
“I am starting to train a lot more. I’ve been running a lot lately practicing with my school’s coaches and getting private lessons with my tennis trainer,” Wilson said. “I know real well that the guys at state are going to be ten times better than what I faced at districts, so I have to also put it in high gear.”
