Howell hires new behavioral support specialist

Howell made a new addition to the guidance office team: Ms. Kristin Wilmes. She is a behavioral support specialist, which means she helps kids use different behavior strategies that will make their school experience better.

Her office can be found in D106 and D108. Anyone who needs to can go see her.

“Students can sign up on the guidance counselor form, request a pass from their teacher, stop by if they need someone to talk to, or be referred to me by another counselor/administrator,” Wilmes said.

Her job is slightly different from the educational support counselor.  What she does is help students set goals and use strategies to help them feel more balanced and in control of their emotions.

“I help to implement behavioral strategies and positive supports that contribute productively to the school as a whole,” Wilmes said.

Some fun facts about Wilmes are that she has a double Masters in School Counseling and Licensed Professional Counseling. Her favorite color is purple, she loves chocolate, and she has a 4-year-old dog named Lacey.

“I am also expecting a baby girl who will likely be born in November,” Wilmes said.
