New Dean Rules the School

New year, new administration. Starting the 18-19 school year on a new journey Dean Ryan Johnson joins Howell in place of now Principal Jessica Altman. Though new to Howell Dean Johnson is not new to the district. Prior to becoming the dean he was a Spanish teacher at Howell North for 11 years and was involved in district internal training for leadership.

“I’m adjusting very well and it wasn’t very hard because I’ve been in the district for so long. Now I’m focusing on my role here at Howell and I’m really enjoying it.” said Johnson.

As the dean, his job is to focus on students A-G (about 750  kids) attendance, support and disciplinary needs.

“I have the opportunity to meet many new faces and make bonds with the students to help them through their time here. I’m looking forward to seeing my impact on the students pay off and their progression as young adults.” said Johnson.

With this being a new experience and him being new to Howell, there was an overwhelming reception by the other administrators and staff.

“Everyone really welcomed me in and guided me through the building and their way of doing things. It was nice to jump in and be as well received as I was,” said Johnson. “I didn’t know what to expect coming in, but I’m happy about my transition so far.”
