Sophomore Emma Johnson was the only student from Howell who attended the Youth and Government State Conference.
The Youth and Government State Conference occurs the day before the State Convention, this year taking place Nov. 8 in Jefferson City. The State Conference is for all the students holding an office position and all the students running for an office position to get everything prepared before everyone else arrives.
“I was in the media aspect of Youth and Government, so I was doing more journalistic things,” Johnson said.
Johnson went to the State Conference since she was the Chief Editor for this year’s Youth and Government State Convention and made the newspapers for the Convention.
“If people enjoy government, then it’s important for them to participate in Youth and Government to understand what the state government does,” Johnson said.
