In the chorus she repeatedly sings “It wasn’t love, it was a perfect illusion.” Describing a relationship that wasn’t love they thought was but it was more of a false appearance that seemed like true and almost perfect. What many listeners can relate to experience of being “in love”, but then coming to the realization that it wasn’t true all along.
