Mockingjay Review

Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth are back in the final installment of The Hunger Games series, Mockingjay Part 2, came out November 27. While it was one of the highest grossing movies that weekend, it had the lowest opening weekend for any of the Hunger Games movies.

Part 2 picks up exactly where the previous movie leaves off right after Peeta attacks Katniss. It immediately goes into the actions of the movie, following Katniss’ final fight with District 13 against the Capitol. Katniss sneaks into the Capitol, and her and her allies must fight their way through the traps to take down President Snow.

While it is an adaptation it omits and changes some of the slower scenes and moments, so the moving retains a steady pace and an interesting story. While they do cut some interesting scenes from the book, it doesn’t do so in a way that will confuse people who haven’t read the books or leave fans of the books too unsatisfied.

Everything was built up well to the the climax. The rising acting created the feel of suspense needed to carry the movie. Unfortunately, it didn’t really last. The falling action didn’t live up to the climax and it gave the ending a little bit of an anticlimactic feel. However, it did still pull off an amazing ending to a wonderful series.
